Paul Larmer (left), Guelph, ON, recently retired CEO of Semex, accepts
World Dairy Expo’s 2024 International Person of the Year Award from
World Dairy Expo Board President Bill Hageman. Larmer was honoured
for his 40-year career in the dairy cattle genetics industry at the Expo
Recognition Awards Banquet held on October 2nd in Madison, WI.
Paul Larmer has dedicated his professional
development projects that increased
life to dairy cattle genetics, making a
efficiency, profitability and sustainability
valuable global impact. Working specifically
for dairymen worldwide. These projects
in the genetics industry since 1984,
included enhancing dairy technology and
Larmer held positions at United Breeders
genetics in China, establishing production
Inc., Semex Alliance, and Alta Genetics
centers in Hungary and Brazil, and most
Inc. before rejoining Semex in 2007 as
recently delivering a first-in-class Methane
Chief Executive Officer. He oversaw

Larmer Inducted into Canadian
Agricultural Hall of Fame
Paul Larmer of Guelph, ON, was inducted
into the Canadian Agricultural Hall of Fame
in ceremonies held on November 2nd in
Toronto, ON. Larmer was recognized for
his leadership, vision and contributions
to Canada’s genetics industry during
a professional career that spanned 40
years including being CEO of Semex from
2007 until his retirement in 2023. Under
Larmer’s guidance, Semex’s global footprint
expanded to 80 countries, including 15
subsidiaries, providing enhanced genetic
solutions so dairy and beef producers
around the world could achieve profitable
and sustainable results.
It’s been quite a year of recognition for Paul Larmer who retired December
2023 from a momentous career at Semex. Congratulations Paul!
