APPLICATION PROCESS FOR 2025 OPENING SOON APPLICATION PROCESS FOR 2025 OPENING SOON
The objective of the New Entrant Program (NEP) and
New Entrant Program Organic (NEPO) is to encourage and
facilitate a new producer’s entry into the dairy industry.
The BC Milk Marketing Board’s NEP and NEPO programs
provide successful applicants with incentive quota,
matching quota, and priority on the quota exchange.
Applicants must pay a non-refundable application fee of
$250.00 and meet the following requirements:
• Have a genuine intention to be actively engaged in milk production
•  Be at least 19 years of age and a permanent resident of Canada and British Columbia
• Have a minimum of 3 years on-farm dairy experience or equivalent education
•  Have no financial interest in any quota issued, allotted or granted by any supply
management commodity board or commission in Canada, directly or indirectly

2024 has been a monumental year
for Richard and Judy Bosma of
Vedderlea Holsteins of Abbotsford.
This was the year Richard and Judy both
turned 65 and ‘turned the page’ on their

farming story – retirement had ‘crept up on

them’ as Richard said. While Richard spent
most of the year carefully planning and

prepping for the complete dispersal of the

herd on August 1, Judy spent most of that
time wondering how she would keep up!

The sale at the farm will be remembered as
a major event well-beyond 2024 – CMY
not only
for the great cows and brisk bidding, but

for the excitement and social energy that
swept through it.
What comes next? Probably more time with
grandkids, expanding his mole-eradication
business and hopefully more writing for
