COWICHAN 4-H HOLSTEIN CLUB
Club Reporters: Jeremy Wikkerink
The Cowichan 4-H Holstein club has had an excellent year! This year we had seven
active members, and we enjoyed a number of events. As a club we competed at
the Vancouver Island Holstein Show, Maple Ridge Show, Cobble Hill Fair and the
Cowichan Exhibition. Throughout the year we had the chance to practise our
public speaking, judging, clipping, education displays and showmanship skills. We
ended the year with our annual club fundraiser of ice cream sales at the Cowichan
Exhibition – Thank-you to everyone who came out to support us.
Our awards banquet was held on Friday, November 15. As we close our year, we
would like to thank our leaders; Mrs. Henrietta Groenendijk, Ms. Michelle Laszczyk,
Mr. Ridley Wikkerink and Mrs. Darlene Brandsma. Thank you also to our club
sponsors: Vancouver Island Holstein Club, WestGen, Island Dairy Services and
the Cowichan Agricultural Society; and to the farms that supplied calves for our
members; without you all our 4-H year would not have been possible.
We are looking forward to next year!
