Judging Report submitted by Fred Hofstra
On October 17th Alberta Holsteins hosted its yearly judging clinic in conjunction with
the Westerner Dairy Showcase in Red Deer, Alberta. This year, we welcomed Neil Kittle
to Alberta to officiate over the many judges participating in the clinic.
Neil and his wife own a farm just outside
Winchester, Ontario. Neil has 25 years of
experience as an official judge and has had
the opportunity to judge at many shows across
North America.
We challenged our participants with three
classes, a September heifer class (Jersey &
Holstein), a 2-year-old class, and a 4-year-old
class. All the participants were allowed
to join in discussions and give reasons.
After the classes were complete,
Alberta Holsteins sponsored a pizza
lunch for the participants.

Alberta Holsteins would like to thank
all committee members, leads people
and exhibitors – without them we would
not be able to host the clinics. Also, a
special thank you to Lisa Simanton and
Grand Valley Fortifiers for supplying the coffee and donuts.
